Seven Things You Should Know About Merit Temporary Services

 

 

1)         What skill categories of temporary personnel do you provide on a regular basis? 

Administrative, Executive Assistant, Administrative Secretaries, Accounting, D-Base, Receptionists, Mailroom and Back Office Operations.

 

2)         Do you service same day staffing needs? 

We have in the past facilitated same day services.

 

3)         Please describe the office that will be designated as a service location with the number of staff and the job titles of internal staff.                                                                               

Merit Consulting is centrally located in the Wall Street area.  Easily accessible to all modes of transportation such as the Staten Island Ferry, New Jersey Transit and major bus and train lines from all 5 boroughs. The Merit staff consists of 8 full time employees.  President, 2 Vice Presidents, Payroll Accounting Manager, Temp Coordinator, Staff Administrator and 2 Senior Staffing Consultants.

 

4)         Is there any other information we should consider in evaluating your company’s qualifications as supplier?

Merit Consulting Services was established in March 1984 by two individuals who wanted to change the impersonal approach that was associated with the “employment agency business”. The reputation has stayed with us into the millennium. We believe that the size of Merit (8 Personal Consultants) is effective, because, it allows us to conduct our business in a more professional and controlled atmosphere. In turn, enabling us to interface more cohesively with both our clients and applicants.  Most important to us is to make the applicants feel more comfortable knowing that we strive to find them the most appropriate position.  This philosophy has allowed us to become one of the more respected and successful agencies in the Personnel Industry.  We are proud to represent such firms as Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, Morgan Stanley, Deloitte & Touche and Alliance Capital just to name a few.                                                    

 

5)         How do you maintain a diverse candidate pool? 

Merit Consulting advertising reaches the tri-state area mainly through the NY Times, Staten Island Advance, Star Ledger, New Jersey Journal and various borough periodicals.  Merit Consulting has existed for the past 17 years through the referrals of our current and previous applicants.  We have taken full advantage of the newest technology by constructing our own web site, which helps us to further diversify new markets.

 

  6)         Do you perform skills testing for candidates?  If yes, which systems do you use? 

Yes; we utilize “Prove It” for all computer skill testing.  We also provide math, spelling and other aptitude testing.

 

  7)         Please explain your screening procedures, including reference checking, drug testing, credit check, background check (felony convictions), and degree verification processes.  Also, please include your current process of notifying potential candidates of pre-employment requirements.

We meet all candidates for evaluation, testing and to check references.  Credit Checks are not performed routinely unless specified to do so.  Our provider is Trans America.  We do not provide drug testing at this time.  We adhere to all policies on non-discloser employee confidentiality agreement and personal trading policies
